Update on house!

Thank you all who viewed the video I created on my son Kody and for all the kind words ((hugs)) I have become very close to many of you and wanted to let you in on that huge part of my life :) And the main reason we are building our dream house! Anyways, very happy to report that Ryan Homes called inspection office and the county will NOT give them occupancy permit until they rip out ALL plumbing!! Including all underground plumbing. So they now have no choice! All cement has been poured including garage, so lots of plumbing and cement to be torn out. At least it will be done right! Very delayed but worth it and glad we caught it! So not sure if it's all Ryan who is going out of the way here because they had to but still happy and we patched things up with the PM :) really live our sales rep too! He's great!!!!

  1. I am soooo glad that things worked out and that the inspectors stepped in. Even though things will be delayed but its worth it in order to have a long lasting beautiful home without any defects. Since you mentioned you guys have patched things up with the PM what was his reaction? I hope communication will be much smoothier from here on out. I have been thinking of you guys thank you for keeping us updated.

  3. Hubby gets all the credit for not only catching it but taking it as far as he could. I am so proud of him <3 This is once in a lifetime for us and we Definataly splurged on a lot. We want everything perfect! We both grew up in inner city and never imagined giving our kids a life in the suburbs in a community :) They need to understand we all pick our dream house and want it perfect! @ stephanie, thanks for the comment on other post ...very touching! Kody and kassi are best friends and love each other so much! They both had such a tough life but what doesn't break you makes you stronger ...we are one strong family !

  4. YAY! and Boo!!

I'm glad they have to re-do it all!! =) What a relief!! I'm sorry for the delay though. But it's for a good reason.

I wonder how many other homes were not caught though. I feel sorry for those people. =(

I guess we in the blogging world can just look forward to new photos of everything done right!

I am also glad to hear that you and your PM worked things out. Like PP said, I hope everything from here on out is smooth sailing!

  6. I'm not sure if you wanted to tell us what was wrong with the plumbing since they found out your husband was right, but if you can, could you let us know? Glad he caught it.

  8. I'm glad to hear everything has been resolved and they are correcting the problems. It will be worth the extra wait in the end to know it is done properly.

  9. I too would like to hear what they did wrong with the plumbing...especially since we are 1.5 weeks away from breaking ground...Please share the details. I would like to keep a close eye on things.

  10. Glue and primer were being mixed as one. It is a two step process....you have to primer first to clean the pipe then glue ! When you mix the two together you are not cleaning the pipe and you are watering down the glue :( Inspectors cannot catch this because they now make them use purple primer, but when they are mixing the 2 you cannot tell if they did it in two steps or not. Just glad my husband caught it! It will weaken the glue and instead of lasting forever you may only get 10-15 years! I do NOT think that it is Ryan homes that does this!! I think it is individual plumbers....since they subcontract we just got a bad plumber that didn't follow code!

  11. yikes.
how did your husband see them doing this? were they doing it right out in the open? yikes again.
what would happen 10-15 years down the road--would the pipes just come apart, or slowly leak?
    yikes for the 3rd time.

  12. Lol! Yikes is right! Right out in the open and then they argued with him and said they have been doing it like this for 20 years! Another yikes! My husband was so appalled he left!! He is very proud of the good work he does as a plumber and couldn't believe the guy was arguing over it! You would slowly have leaks...and plumbing problems over time. That is what my husband explained to them! He said this will not be your problem it will be mine when there is no warranty left!

  13. Wow, your husband is a keeper. Great job, momoftwins' husband. I'm sure he will be watching everything else throught the process. And hopefully there will be no more "yikes" moments. Hahah.
